Nubra Valley
Nubra is a tributary of the Shyok River which flows parallel to the Indus on the other side of the Ladakh range. To go to the Nubra region, one has to go over Khardung La at 5578m. The Nubra Valley was on the caravan route leading from Leh to Kashgar through the two passes of Saser and Karakoram. The main village Deskit has a regular bazaar and a Gompa.
Pangong Tso
4256m high and lying 153 kms north-east of Leh, this is the largest salt water lake in Asia. Only one third of the lake is in India, the rest lies in China. The lake is virtually an inland sea, 150 kms long and 10 kms wide.
Tso Moriri / Rupshu
The area traversed by the Manali Leh road and containing the drainage basins of Tso Moriri and other lakes is known as Rupshu. Lying south-east of Ladakh, the altitude of the Valley varies between 4000m and 5000m. The climate which is extremely cold and dry, makes for little agriculture but plenty of grazing ground. Zanskar
Two rivers flowing towards each other along the northern flank of the Great Himalaya meet in the broad plain of Padum. They become the Zanskar river which flows off northwards through a gorge in the Zanskar range to meet the Indus at Nimo. This T-shaped complex of valleys is Zanskar, opened to motor traffic only in 1980 when a road was built via the Suru Valley and Rangdum and over the Penzi-La.

Indian airlines, Jet and Kingfisher Airways have scheduled flights to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche airport, Leh from Delhi.
Indian airlines fly twice a week from Srinagar and Jammu to Leh.
Leh-Manali by surface takes two days (474 Kms) with a night halt in jispa or sarchu.
Please book your flight well in advance, since this sector is busiest in summer.
